Now that the first of the year has come and gone, it’s time to get back on track (think about the differences between your pre-halloween diet and your December diet… or maybe don’t think about it). I enjoy focusing on a “fresh start” in some aspect of my life and this is the perfect time of year to start thinking about new beginnings and goals. In some way, we all want to do better by ourselves, our family and our long-term prospects. So if you have a health goal for 2017, listen up! Because by Triple Berry Low-Cal Breakfast Smoothie will help on your journey.
But before you head straight for the smoothie recipe, let’s talk about those goals for a sec.
First, you’ll notice I’m not using the term “resolutions,” simply because it’s highly unlikely you’ll stick to your “resolutions.” About 35% of resolutions will be broken by the end of January. Nuts! That’s why I favor the term “goal.” A lot of us choose vague health goals or we don’t fully commit to them. I avoid both of these pitfalls by:
- Making sure my goal has a time/deadline attached to it.
- Getting super specific.
- Writing down my goal and reviewing it daily.
- Making sure my goal is achievable, but challenging.
A poorly written goal is “lose weight” and “exercise more frequently.” How much weight? By when? What kind of exercise? How long will you workout?
A better health goal is “lose five pounds by March 1” and “run for 30 minutes three times per week before 8:00am.”
Many books have been written on this topic, so I’ll stop here so we can talk about this breakfast smoothie recipe 🙂
This smoothie is super quick to make. It should take you less than five minutes. Plus, it’s low calorie! It’ll cost you less than 200 calories.
Yes, I love my sugary sweets and baking recipes, but that’s def not how I eat daily. Smoothies on the other hand, is how I like to jumpstart my day.
